Hey, y’all! I know, I know. It has been far too long since our last post but everybody knows just how crazy the holidays get to be and honestly, your fave post grad losers got overwhelmed with work, cooking, prepping, wrapping, buying, etc. and the blog took a bit of a back seat and that’s okay! We’re back, here at the end of 2019.

The end of a year always makes me feel reflective, as it does most people I’m sure. This isn’t going to really be about the highs and lows of 2019 for me. The year was another year, as they always are, and overall, I enjoyed it! Going into 2020, I’m going to choose some things to focus on and new habits to try out to hopefully lead to a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life, but that’s for another post.

This post is for encouraging all of you to really look back on 2019 and reflect on what you loved, what you didn’t love so much, and how to do more of what you love in the coming years. I believe that life should be enjoyable and if you aren’t enjoying life, figure out what’s keeping you from that and make a change.

So, this post I wanted to share a super easy recipe for making bath salts as an excuse to take an afternoon or evening to relax and reflect on 2019 while looking forward to 2020. You’ll hear from us next week for out first life update in 2020, but for now, stir up some bath salts (it’s super easy) and take a moment to consider the year in its entirety while making plans for a fantastic 2020!

Easy Bath Salts

What you’ll need:

Adjustments.jpeg
  • Epsom salts (I bought a big bag on Amazon)

  • Coconut oil

  • Essential oil of your choice

  • Himalayan salt (optional)

  • Dried rose petals, lavender buds, or other flora elements (optional)

  • Mortar and pestle

What you’ll do:

It’s really very simple (this is supposed to be relaxing, remember?). Crush the epsom salt and floral elements, if using, in the mortar and pestle. Add the Himalayan salt, if using, and crush. (Note: the Himalayan salt does not dissolve as well as the epsom salt in bath water so use less of this and be sure the crush thoroughly until it is almost a powder.)

Melt a small amount of coconut oil and add to the salts while stirring. Keep adding oil until it just begins to clump. Add a few drops of essential oil until you’re satisfied with the smell and that’s it! I like to put mine in pretty bottles just to feel extra fancy but definitely not a requirement.

Thank you all for reading along and supporting the three of us as we make our way in the world and we wish you a very happy new year!
