As the World Rambles On: April Edition

Written by: Callie, Kenzie and Brenna

May is here and we are ready for summertime vibes and prettier weather! Here’s a quick recap on what we did in April. Did you do anything super fun that we should try or know about? We want to know!

Callie

Looking back on April I really didn’t do too much. The first two weeks Jason was gone for work trips so I did absolutely nothing then. And since then days are spent working on our house. Mostly in the backyard, planting a garden and trying to make sure everything stays nice and green for the summer.

One of the home improvements made was I [finally] put up my butterfly gallery wall? Am I weird for loving dead butterflies in frames? Maybe. Should you judge me? NO! Because look how pretty!

We went to Jason’s family ranch for Easter and it was the first time I had been there since Christmas which was too long! We had a great time hiding eggs for all the kids and driving around the ranch and picking dewberries!

The only other thing that I did in April was I decided to move into a booth at Painted Tree! Painted Tree is a giant place that’s been separated into “booths” where different vendors can bring in their stuff to sell! I was super excited about this and I move in May 1st! If you want to come see what we got to sell, I’m at the North Richland Hills location and my booth is D17!

My booth before I get to move things in!

April for me was a month full of ups and downs. I started April off with a weekend camping trip with Brad in Vinny which was pretty exciting because it was the farthest we’ve taken Vinny so far. Vinny made the trip all the way to Stubblefield Campsite in New Waverly and back but it was raining when we woke up, so we ended up leaving early and driving home in the rain with no front windows. However, we did stop at Honey’s for coffee and biscuits which could save any rained out camping trip let me tell you. This trip gave me a little taste of van life and I AM READY.

I also hit up a concert at House of Blues Houston with Claire which is always a good time. This one was for Quinn XCII who is a wonderful artist and I greatly recommend for anyone looking for new music, especially for summertime.

Most weekends have stayed very busy but two of them in April were spent in beach towns and I am definitely not complaining. For Easter, we went to Matagorda, my favorite beach town, and spent lazy days searching for sea glass, watching insane sunrises, sunsets, and moonrises (the pink moon happened and totally surprised all of us), and enjoying dogs on the beach. The next weekend Brad and I visited his parents in Baytown and geocached, relaxed with Netflix, and went to a carnival by the beach where we got hardcore swindled by a carny. Still, a relaxing weekend with great memories.

We were tricked into spending $20 to win the sheep. :/

The other time was spent gardening, going through our playhouse full of treasures alongside junk, and gearing up to start selling more on Etsy, hopefully. Also, April was a very emotional month for me for whatever reason. Ultimately, I am growing happier each day and choosing to make my mental health more of a priority. Also, so far, May has been great and I’m looking forward to this month and all the months that are given to me going forward.

This month wasn’t as busy as March was for me… At least it didn’t feel like it. However my idea of busy is completely different than the normal persons “busy” so I probably was. I’m still working on that “Big Thing” I was working on last month but I cant talk about it just yet… I promise y’all it’s seriously so good and I'm really excited to share all the details with y’all SOON. Just bear with me. I worked more on the apartment, finally found nightstands that I actually liked and I finally feel like its SLOWLY coming together. Here’s the thing, making a new space feel like home takes time and my priority right now isn’t necessarily on decorating so that’s why it’s taking forever. It’s usually seven by the time I get home and at that point, I just want to cook dinner and spend time with JT.

This month, Orangetheory offered a marathon challenge so that kept me motivated to show up more than ever before. I signed up for the ultra which was 31.1 miles and thanks to my OTF buddies for their encouragement I wound up running 54 miles! I’m still shocked! We all celebrated with a Sunday Brunch and then a little driveway drinking after which was SO fun.

We celebrated our first married Easter which was no different than any other Easter but we took a picture and I feel like it’s important to announce our cheesiness. I honestly cannot wait until we have kids to hide eggs and put together baskets for.

My biggest project this month was making shirts and decals for a bachelorette party. I have a Silhouette Cameo that I use just for fun but a friend needed help so I made 18 different shirts and decals! It was a lot of fun but definitely something I couldn’t do every day. Plus it just feels better to help out a friend.

#debbiefromdrugcourt turned 51 on the 24th so we celebrated her with chicken pot pie, a Texas sheet cake and all the presents! Mom makes the BEST chicken pot pie. She literally made three because we all love it that much. Lottie’s opened so we got our first snow of the season together with the Rankins, mom and her new man… Yes, you read that right DEB HAS A BOYFRANNDDD. Which makes me so happy because he is so sweet and good to her. I’d say this is Deb’s year!

That’s about it for me. See! I told, y’all it was a slow month and yet I’m still tired… This is 26 I guess. Well lucky for y’all, May is super busy for all of us and we will have even more to share which makes me happy.
