As the World Rambles On: November Edition

Written by Brenna, Kenzie and Callie

Hey there everyone! It’s the first Tuesday of a new month and here we are with another life update for you! Things have been exceedingly busy as the year winds to a close and lots of things have been happening!

Brenna

I never know how to start my updates, truthfully. So let me dive right in. November was the month to kick some serious ass. For starters, I started and completed a six week eating over haul challenge. To my surprise, I found where my biceps were hiding and learned that vegetables are the ultimate fuel for feeling like a million bucks. Also, I now sleep more like a baby and less like a stressed out bride to be. I took my bridals in this amazingly gorgeous house that I am still obsessing over. Thank God for Callie coming through with a solid back up venue because my first one fell through. #goawayrain Also, JT and I ordered our wedding bands from Jeff’s Jewelry in Conroe! I am so excited to see my whole set together and to have a lot of family history on my hand. For those who didn’t know, all of the stones in my rings have been passed down from our grandmothers. Which is so special considering they are in Heaven.

First off, this wall is AMAZING.

Second, HEB Blooms KILLS it.

In addition to crushing my November wedding goals, I also experienced my very first Twenty One Pilots concert which was AMAZING. Shout out to Kenzie for the hookup! If you don’t know who Twenty One Pilots are, you’re seriously missing out. For REAL. I also started volunteering through The Mentor Project for CISD. I met my “mentee” last Tuesday and I’m so excited and praying for this new little journey!

Not to anyone’s surprise, I got a lot of Christmas shopping done at the Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market and JLTW Holiday Market! These are two of my favorite markets and the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. Also, it’s the perfect excuse to go shopping. November and December are my favorite months of the year because 1. I LOVE Thanksgiving and 2. giving gifts gives me LIFE. That’s no joke.

Pop loves taking pictures, can’t you tell?

Now I know everyone is just dying to hear about whatever challenge I completed at Orangetheory Fitness this month so I’ll just let you know that you are reading the words from a woman who completed the Orange Voyage Challenge! This chick ROWED around the world. 28,801 plus some meters to be exact. Yep, you read that right. Did I finish 4th in my age group? Maybe. Am I tooting my own horn? Absolutely. Rowing is no joke and I think it’s the devil most days.

So there you have it. To sum up November, I spent the majority of my time eating healthy meals, working out, babysitting and shopping. I dig it.

Buckle up y’all, because December is going to be a wild ride for everyone. I already want to drink thinking about what lies ahead this month. It’s fine though, totally fine. *cries inside

Kenzie

Hello again, friends, I am pleased to announce I am not as sad as I have been! These last couple of life updates have been somewhat depressing on my part, but that is changing. When the weather gets colder, I always get happier and I’m very looking forward to this festive season.

In November, I got a new boyfriend (met on Tinder for those that are curious), went to three concerts (twenty one pilots, Hippo Campus, and The Front Bottoms, all of which were phenomenal), helped out with Brenna’s bridal portraits (where she slayed), went to the Texas Renaissance Festival (a tradition that we sadly missed out on last year), turned 24, had Thanksgiving at my man’s house by the beach AND at home, and did a lot of shopping and local exploring.

I’ve become a big fan of local exploring (part of that whole explore your radius mantra) and have been able to check out a bunch of neat spots in Houston recently. Brad, my new man, surprised me with tickets to TFTI, a spot in Houston made specifically for Instagram. They set up multiple backdrops and areas just for people to pose in. It was pretty cool and made for some decent content, too bad I’m super awkward in front of the camera. Luce Ave also has fantastic creamy cold brew. we ate at a swanky little place called Hearsay before the twenty one pilots concert that had delicious crab cakes and chocolate cake. Also, the River Oaks area is dreamy and boujee and fun to drive around in and pretend you’re rich.

December is looking like it’s going to be a very busy month, so I’m trying to mentally prepare. I’m also going to try to dedicate more of my time to my hobbies like reading and writing. Also, I think the fact that I’ve been unorganized in my life recently has played into me being down these past few months in a small way. So I’m going to start the process of going through all of my things, pairing down, and organizing big time. I’m also going to really try to utilize my planner and stick to a schedule for certain aspects of my life while still being spontaneous and accepting event on a spur-of-the-moment basis. Let’s see how this goes, but I’m ready for December!

Okay, so I thought that November was crazy. But now looking back on it, it really wasn’t. So mine will be much shorter than Kenzie and Brenna’s.

Brenna had her bridal photos taken at The Oak Atelier which is a place I just love and hope to do maybe a styled shoot there or just hire a photographer to take more photos of R&R there because it’s gorgeous! Brenna, of course, was stunning and I can’t wait to stand with her on her wedding day!

We went to Ren Fest which is a tradition though this year wasn’t the best for me because I was sick but you can bet your butt that I still ate all the food I possibly could while I was there!

Thanksgiving was a bit crazy splitting it between my family and Jason’s this year. But it was the first time I was at Thanksgiving with his family and it was a fun time! We probably drove close to 1,000 miles over the course of 4 days.

And that’s about it. I interviewed for two jobs that I was qualified for and excited about and neither worked out. So I’m just hoping that means God wants me to stick with my Virtual Assistant business and not give up on it and that it will be successful one day. #fingerscrossed

Doesn’t this just make you want to brunch with us??

We got to meet up with our friend Natalie and her fiance for an impromptu brunch and to talk about her wedding plans for March. The leaves finally changed colors and fell, and Jason and I put up Christmas lights outside on the house and got the tree up! (Which was all very surprising because I know that he did NOT want to do any of that, but he knew I loved it so I guess maybe he loves me or something?)

I’m looking forward to finishing the year out on a high note. Up until Jason gets off for Christmas there’s not too much going on so hopefully it will be a good December!
