We Started an Etsy...This is How it's Going

Written by Callie

These days I’m kind of all over the place in my quest for starting my own business. As you probably know I’ve got the Virtual Assistant biz that didn’t take off like I hoped it would (though I’d still love to be a VA so hit me up if you need one). Then I started selling things at a booth in Painted Tree (which has been lots of fun but still not too profitable). And most recently we’ve started revamping our Etsy page!

We’ve had an Etsy page for a few years now. Kenzie, Brenna and I would add a new item to it occasionally but for the most part we didn’t work on it a whole lot. Well now we are! We started the page when we had leftovers from a farmer’s market that we participated in years ago. There was a handmade scarf listing, some watercolors (which we actually sold one of despite us being terrible painters), and mystery boxes (which are some of my favorite things to make!) Through the years we would have a random order here or there but mostly would just let the listings expire.

Well a month or so ago Jason bought a CNC machine and the fam got me a vinyl cutting machine for my birthday so now when we get bored in Fort Worth we make projects! This has been a lot of fun because for a while it was kind of difficult for Jason and I to find something we both enjoyed doing. Well we found it! Making projects together that we can sell!

We’ve spent a lot of money on materials (wood is expensive!) and have yet to make even a fraction of it back but we are starting to sell a few things out of the Painted Tree shop and I’m working on making listings on Etsy for the things we can make! Here’s a few of the things so far:

If you have a second and are bored and want someone to hear your opinion on things I’d really love if you would take a look at the Etsy page (and maybe take a deeper look into one listing?) and let me know what you think! My old boss had a system to break down new ideas we had. He would ask what we did right, what we did wrong, what was missing and what was confusing. So if you have a lot of extra time you could follow those guidelines. But either way we’d love to hear your opinions via email at thegirls@rambleandrove.co.

As always, thanks for reading our little blog, we really appreciate it. Also if you have ideas of things you would like us to write about here you can also email those to us!
