My Current Skin Care Necessities

Written by: Kenzie

Let me begin this post with a disclaimer: I am, by no means, a beauty guru. However, I’ve been trying to get my skin to a place that I really like it and it’s definitely getting there! I don’t wear makeup often at all which I’m sure helps, but I’ll also be sharing the products I use that have worked best for me so far! I’m into researching products that use all-natural ingredients at the moment so if I find ones I like, I’ll share that in the future. For now though, these are the ones I use daily to keep my skin lookin’ and feeling’ good!

Acure Face Wash

I order this on Amazon and I really like their scrub, but I accidentally ordered the gel cleanser this time. It’s doing the trick too, but I’m missing the exfoliating and deep cleansing of the scrub.

Philosophy Purity Face Lotion

This stuff smells great and is super light so it doesn’t make your face feel all sticky or slimy. Usually, I apply this after washing and before makeup if I’m wearing makeup that day.

Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner

I like to use this before bed or if I feel like I need a little refresh and don’t want to wash my face again. It’s got witch hazel which apparently is a good thing and all the scents - rose, lavender, and cucumber - are great.

Rhada Rosehip Oil

Now, you may be thinking, “Why on earth would I want to rub oil all over my face? Who wants an oily face??” I was skeptical at first too, and it did feel strange the first time I rubbed oil all over my face right before bed. But honestly, I love this stuff! You can apply it under makeup, but for me, that still feels a little too oily, so I use it before bed and it really hydrates overnight and doesn't cause breakouts. Plus, it’s organic so that’s another pro, I’d say.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

I use the aloe, cucumber, and green tea one, but there’s several varieties and it’s a super refreshing mist to apply after makeup or anytime throughout the day when you just need a little lift. Smells great and is light on the skin.

Bonus Items

These two things I don’t use everyday, but I struggle with bags and dark circles under my eyes. I don’t sleep all that much but even when I get a full eight hours, I wake up with circles. So these two little tools have helped when I’m feeling like taking some time to pamper my eyeballs!

  • Jade eye roller - it doesn’t really have to be the jade one - they have a variety of crystals out there, but I like the pretty green! I keep this in the fridge and roll it under and around my eyes to reduce swelling when my bags are particularly pronounced. I also like to roll it on my templed or the back of my neck when I get migraines.

  • Snail & Gold Undereye patches - I also keep these in the fridge for en extra blast of coolness to my eyes. They’re easy to apply and stay on even if you’re up and doing things and don’t have time to lay on the couch for fifteen minutes. I’ve found that these really help to lighten the darkness under my eyes for a day or two. I use them when I have an event to go to - which is pretty much never lol - or just when I want to feel fancy.

  • Aztec Indian Secret Healing Clay Mask - I do a face mask once or twice a week and this big jar is great! You just mix with a little bit of water, apply to face, and wait for it too dry. It lasts forever, tightens pores, and exfoliates and it’s natural too!

Like I said, these are my current skincare faves! I’m looking into products that use more or all natural ingredients and if I find some stuff I like, I’ll make another post with all natural goods!

For now though, let me run you through my super simple skincare routine. I wash my face when I take a shower. Moisturize straight outta the shower, makeup if that’s happening that day. Then before bed, I take off my makeup (usually with just a wipe - I know I know, I should be washing my face before bed, but I don’t so sue me), use the Thayer’s toner (I apply with reusable facial pads instead of the cotton rounds, you know for the environment) and then follow up with the rosehip oil before hitting the hay. In the morning, if I’m not showering in the morning, use the toner again to remove excess rosehip oil and start the day! Super simple and it’s been working for me!

Hopefully, something on here will be helpful for you, but remember that you know your skin best! Do what feels right, what is healthy, and what leaves your skin as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside!
