5 Distancing Valentine's Day Ideas

Written by Callie & Brenna

Unfortunately, this pandemic is somehow still going on which is going to make Valentine’s Day plans a bit more difficult to plan. But if you’re like me and don’t like being around other humans even before all this then you’ll want to stick around for these V-Day ideas you can carry out with very little (if not zero) human interaction.

1. Charcuterie Board Picnic

This one is simple and simple is sometimes the best! Order online and pick up your groceries for minimum human involvement. If you have an HEB close by you I highly suggest getting all the meats and cheeses for your board from there because they’re the best! Anyway, buy you up some of that fancy cheese, some crackers, summer sausage, and some mustards/jams if you’re feeling extra fancy. Then get a blanket and venture out to your backyard for a picnic! Of course you could also go to a park but going for social distancing makes a backyard is perfect! Add some fairy lights and champagne to be extra class.

2. The Standard Dinner and Movie

Of course there’s always the old standard of a dinner and movie at home. Both of you can get in the kitchen and make one of your favorite meals together! Blast the music loud and sing while you cook. Throw in making some chocolate covered strawberries or sugar cookies while you’re at it for your desert. Pick a movie and settle in on the couch together. Make it extra fun by making a blanket fort for the movie!

3. Staycation

Maybe you’re itching to get out of your house but you’re not ready to go far?! You two could sneak off to a quaint place for the long weekend! The R&R Girls love those small town vibes. We suggest Fredericksburg! Especially if you love wine and yummy food. While we aren’t big wine drinkers, we do love how cozy Fredericksburg is and the fact that it isn’t far from home! AirBnB is always our go to for these types of trips and most of the time they have keyless and contactless checkin which is great in today’s society.

4. Go for a hike!

If you’re near a national forest and the weather is gorgeous, get outside! A little vitamin D never hurt anyone! Plus when was the last time you truly unplugged for a few hours with a loved one? Sure we are around our spouse or partner a lot but think about how much time you spend with just them and no devices?! It’s probably a little shocking. Pack some of your favorite snacks, fill up a Hydroflask and get out doors!

5. Unpopular Opinion: Do something you’ve been putting off

Maybe Valentines isn’t your jam but you don’t want to let the entire long weekend go to waste… Well, it’s now or never for those projects you’ve been putting off. Nothing brings people together better than doing projects you don’t really want to do but NEED to. Not sure about you, but doing a task that you could do yourself but have been putting off is generally at least 80% better when you involve someone else. Now you have someone to complain with about the task and talk to so that the task seems less annoying than if you’d done it alone. Reward yourself after with a trip to your favorite junk food place. That way you won’t need to shower or anything after. You should know by now, we are some of the laziest people we know and prefer to pull the low bearing fruit from the tree. In this case, it’s a sweaty trip to Canes!
