Our Favorite (and easy) Quarantine Cocktails

Our Favorite (and easy) Quarantine Cocktails

Written by Callie, Kenzie, and Brenna

As y’all may have noticed the three of us plus our friend Claire have been catching up each week on Fridays for a happy hour FaceTime call. These usually last a minimum of two hours and it’s basically a requirement that you have a drink in hand the entire time.

So we wanted to share our go to cocktails/drinks that we make for these weekly chats.

Claire

Claire’s go to drink for these chats is the Smirnoff Ice flavors. And I totally do not blame her. They’re tasty and the easiest of easy (because sometimes you can’t be bothered to mix things up and the only activity you can muster is unscrewing a lid). Her personal favorite flavor is screwdriver or just the plain original. And if you care what mine (Callie’s) is it’s anything that has strawberry in it!

Kenzie

I had this idea for a cocktail in my head with lavender syrup, coconut rum, and Sprite, so I made lavender syrup, but we didn’t have Sprite so I used club soda that was old and flat and it turned out… not so good. Definitely needed some fizz, some flavor, and was a bit too sweet - which is saying something coming from me. So, I’ll work on that recipe and share it when it’s perfected but for now, I’ll share this much easier cocktail that’s great for summer too. I’m calling it - Spiked Peach Mint Iced Tea. Too wordy and not very original, I know. I’ll work on it.

You’ll Need:

Iced tea

Deep Eddy Peach Vodka

Mint and muddler (optional)

Ice, glass, spoon or shaker

Super minimal ingredients, super easy to mix.

Get your glass. If using mint, put it in the bottom and muddle slightly. Fill glass with ice. Two ounces peach vodka. Top the glass with iced tea (sweetened or unsweetened whatever you prefer, but if you prefer unsweetened - WHY?). I like to shake cocktails because it’s fun and makes me feel fancy. So at this point, either be fancy and give it a good shake, strain into new glass with ice and garnish with a sprig of mint OR simply give it a good stir and enjoy straight from the glass. Simple, refreshing, delish.

Brenna

My go-to peasant drink is Deep Eddy’s Lemon with Sprite but that’s way too easy and not entertaining enough to write a paragraph about… Just know, it’s delicious. My fancy choice would be a Cucumber Smash. I love anything cucumber so this just takes the cake. I found this drink at Woodson’s and have been obsessed. Shout out to Corey for hooking it up with the recipe! (Let me note that they add Basil to theirs, however it’s good without it)

You’ll Need:

2 oz Cucumber Vodka

1 oz Lime Juice

1oz Simple Syrup

Splash of Club Soda

Lime for garnishing

Fill your shaker with ice, pour all of that yumminess in and SHAKE what your mama gave you. Pour into your favorite glass, garnish with a lime and enjoy! A perfect spring/summer refresher!

Callie

So I actually really like just some lemon vodka mixed with Sprite mixture more than the drink I’m going to share. But when we’re feeling fancy Jason and I like to make Malibu Sunsets. He was actually the one that first suggested we make the drink and once you have the ingredients it’s fairly easy to make!

You’ll Need:

2 oz Pineapple Juice

2 oz Orange Juice

2 oz Coconut Rum

Grenadine

Cherries and Oranges for garnishing

Pour the pineapple juice, orange juice, and rum into a cup of ice. Slowly drizzle the grenadine in (you can use as much as you like I don’t like too much it makes an already sweet drink too sweet) it will sink to the bottom because of science. Garnish it with an orange slice and some cherries (or maybe a lot of cherries). And you’re done!

It’s a really easy drink that looks fancy because of that science stuff and it’s delicious. At least I think it is but I’m all about those fruity drinks!

P.S. I just got home from work and am finishing up this blog and Jason brought me one of these drinks! So I get to enjoy one while writing about it!
